NSY ft.

This was actually pretty hard, and I definitely don’t feel confident that I did it any justice.

Song:

———> The Dotted Line That Peeks From A Certain Ancient Time
Artist: NSY ft. 茶太

Circle: サリー

Release:

Key: Original Lyrics; Romaji; Translation

NOTES: 移流 = Advection is (loosely) when materials are carried downstream in bulk by flowing water. This could be germs, energy, or in this case, petals. This should give you a better image of how the river is dyed.

守り来た is sung as かたりきた, so I’m not sure if the line should be “What did you protect?” or “What did you say?” I’ve gone with “say” below, but note that that is what is in the booklet.

“I cross through just/only the border’s window.” It’s a little weird in English, so I simplified it below.

熟れて落ちた = うれる is to ripen or mature, so naturally I thought the use of 落ちる meant a fruit metaphor.

細糸 = さいし is “filament,” but it seems like she sings ほそいいと, with is “fine thread.” Of course, it makes more sense to have a bundle of thread, rather than a bundle of filaments, but what do I know?

“The white kimono’s pink.” So I took some liberties

夜叉 = “Yaksha” (read やしゃ) are Buddhist spirits.

葉桜 = はざくら = “cherry tree whose blossoms have fallen, revealing the young leaves.”

kazari kira no utau hi ni
kano sumizome hitohira no iryuu gi yo

The decorated trees sing
That their petals dye the river in a black uniform

nani wo katarikita no ka to

What were you talking about?
In the evening, the very Spring itself will sigh

Forever knows Forever knows
Forever no days are grown

Memories are for dear
Leave it alone in the eye

kouro ha haruka waku dake no mado wo koshite
toujita mi nara oboeteitehoshii

The path I walked was far away, so I crossed through the border
And cast my body away; I want you to keep that in mind

kimi ga tadashii yume wo mitara hitotsu dake
ureteochita okizari no boku ni

You’re honest; If you see just one dream
You matured, and fell from this tree
And left me behind

yoru wo kakeru hane hosoiito no taba

The night soars with these feathers
A bundle of threads

yasashii kimi ni furenu you ni
sakitsuzuketa shiromuku no momoiro

You’re kind, but I can’t touch you
As you continued to bloom, the white kimono became stained pink

shidareru mama oreta nara
ikutabi ni mo meguru dake no asu wo aiseta

If it keeps drooping like that, it will snap
How many times will we just go around?
I loved tomorrow

Forever knows Forever knows
Forever no days are grown

Sorrow over
For dear believer, ends on near

haneru shibuki wo mukaeta wake wo
yuki no you ni furase kakushita roji wo oshiete

It comes with a splash; The details of the arrival
Fall like snow; Teach me of the concealed path through the gate

nani wo nakushiteshimau no
ootoki no wa kazoekirenu hodo yo

I regrettably could do nothing
In this time loop I’ve repeated countless times

asatsuyu ni nurenu uchi ni
monoganashiku chiranakereba naranu to kieta

Amongst the morning dew, but unable to touch it
This sadness; If I don’t fall I won’t mature, and end up disappearing

chou ni wa kasuka nokorikaosu yashakkiri to
hyouri hazakura mabushisugita sora

I see a faint butterfly and smell the lingering scent of the Yaksha through the mist
The blossoms have fallen, and through the trees I can see the radiant sky

toorikakareba sabishigariya no ko wo mite

If you happen to pass by, you’ll see a lonely child
The tears running down their cheek bloom from the hanging remains
