NOTES: Lots of clothing metaphors in this one. I translated it naturally like this, but I realize both choruses could be interpreted as the speaker talking about him/herself, rather than about the subject of the song… the use of ‘kono koe’ in the final chorus points to that interpretation, but I decided to leave it like this because the song overall seems to be about longing for a person who is “long gone,” as it were.
何も生まれやしない -> Jesus christ, this phrase. “Nothing will be born” is a literal and shitty translation: within the context of the song, ‘umareru’ (to be born) probably means something akin to creation ie. “you’ll receive nothing.” The addition of ‘yashinai’ at the end of the ‘umare’ verb stem puts a huge negative emphasis on this phrase, something that can’t be conveyed in English. This line is a powerful declaration of “Nothing is going to happen.” Extreme emphasis.
満たされる -> The speaker is actually hurting because the subject is trying to satisfy their desires (as indicated by the next line “My heart has burst…”). More emphasis than normal.
皮肉に包まれて -> This is said in such a way as to imply the speaker is upset with how the subject is acting, like, “I don’t like how you’re so pessimistic all the time, I wish you would cut it out.” More emphasis than normal.
