Whoops.

Song: Secret treasure
Artist: ゆよゆっぺ ft. F9 (きよの)
———> Yuyoyuppe ft. F9 (Kiyono)
Release: Collapse of the sky
Key: Original Lyrics; Romaji; Translation

NOTES: “飛空” is noted as たからもの (treasure), but the kanji are a weird combination that becomes “airship.” For example, 飛空艇 is “airship” and 飛空士 is “pilot,” so while 飛空 is not “airship” according to my dictionary, I’ve translated it as such, because then everything makes more sense (to me, haha).

“Esoteric” is an adjective for something that only a small, select group can know about or do. So, an “esoteric duty” is something only a small circle of people are given charge of. In other words, it’s a secret.

“…しかなくて” – “Only…” or “Nothing else but…”. So only within the treasure (airship) can the singer do her secret duty.

“宙” is sang as “空”, but ちゅう means “space, air, midair.”

“時空” is sang as just “時”, but じくう means “space-time.”

An oratorio (オラトリオ) is a large musical composition for orchestra, choir, and soloists. It’s different from an opera, though, because an opera is more of a theatre piece; oratorios are specifically concert pieces.

As noted in the lyrics, “嘲笑した” is sung as “ほほえんだ.” No matter how you read it, 嘲笑した is “to ridicule, to sneer,” versus 微笑む(ほほえむ), which is “to smile.”

飛空(たからもの)にすがる = すがる in this sense means “to cling to; to rely on,” so though I’ve used “to cling to,” it’s more out a sense of “I need to hold on tight,” I feel.

野薔薇 is noted as “私” but のばら is “wild rose.”

がく is onomatopoeia for “trembling” or “collapsing.”

流れ行く雲の裏踊り狂う星を
眺め横切ったなら夜に浮かぶ都市へ
答えなど意味を成す宝でしかなくて
追い求め遙か宙
課せられたesoteric

nagareyuku kumo no ura odorikuruu hoshi wo
nagame yoko kitta nara yoru ni ukabu toshi he
kotae nado imi wo nasu takara de shikanakute
oimotome haruka sora
kaserareta esotorikku

Beneath the shifting clouds a star dances in ecstasy
Were you to cut through the scenery
You could reach the suspended city through the night
Only within the treasure that built words and meaning
Do I pursue the distant space
As my esoteric duty

影に張り付いた
時空の中を
切り裂く咎
抱え込んだ運命の歯車を回して
噛み合ったオラトリオを
奏で嘲笑した(ほほえんだ)

kage ni haritsuita
toki no naka wo
kirisaku toga
kakaekonda unmei no haguruma wo mawashite
kamiatta oratorio wo
kanade hohoenda

Clinging to the shadows
The center of space-time
Is ripped apart in error
The cogs of fate I carry start to turn;
As the prepared oratorio began to play
You scornfully smiled

流れ行くほうき星
儚く散る定め
抗う少女の歌
声は遠のいて

nagareyuku houkiboshi
hakanaku chiru sadame
aragau shoujou no uta
koe ha toonoite

Streaming shooting stars
Are fleeting; fated to fall
The young girl’s song resists
But still recedes in the distance

虚空さえ寄る辺なく
己が心は何処
小さなこの体で
飛空(たからもの)にすがる

kokuu sae yorube naku
ono ga kokoro ha doko
chiisana kono karada de
takaramono ni sugaru

With no longer a place to go, not even the empty skies
Where am I? Where is my heart?
With this small body
I cling to my treasured airship

影を引き裂いた
雷さえ
彼方遠く
深淵の闇の中で
ただひたすらもがく
伸ばした手の先にほら
あなたの欠片が

kagi wo hikisaita
ikazuchi sae
kanata tooku
shinen no yami no naka de
tada hitasura mo gaku
nobashita te no saki ni hora
anata no kakera ga

The shadows split open
As thunder cracked the sky
Off in the distance
Within the center of the void
My usual determination is shaken
I reach out my hand
To your fragmented form

美しき蓮の葉に
伝う雫に映る
歪んだ一輪、野薔薇(私)が揺れる

utsukushiki hasu no ha ni
tsutau shizuku ni utsuru
yugunda ichirin watashi ga yureru

Across the leaf of a beautiful lotus
A drop of water reflects my face
A single, swerving flower; rather, it’s me who is shaken

影に張り付いた
時空の中を
切り裂く咎
抱え込んだ運命の歯車を回して
噛み合ったオラトリオを
奏で嘲笑した

kage ni haritsuita
toki no naka wo
kiri saku toga
kakaekonda unmei to haguruma wo mawashite
kamiatta oratorio wo
kanade hohoenda

Clinging to the shadows
The center of space-time
Is ripped apart in error
The cogs of fate I carry start to turn;
As the prepared oratorio began to play
You scornfully smiled
