Seems like a song about someone who is embracing life and finding hope in a changing world, trying to find someone who has already given up and hidden away. The final chorus seems to be a shift in thought process for the person who had given up; they’ve accepted what was said earlier in the song, about how everything is subjective and it’s best to hope for the best. This theory is corroborated by the uplifting key change (in this sense I can forgive this blatant truck-driver’s shift…).

Don’t know anything about Sugamo, or which Fernandez is being referenced, or why they are in this song at all… if you know, feel free to tell me so I can better grasp the meaning. Big thank you to Kafka-fuura for pointing out I had mistaken ぬ for め when transcribing the lyrics from the book…

NOTES: During the chorus, several words can be used to describe the night itself as a plant, so I translated with that in mind:
枝垂れ = しだれ = “weeping form,” as if drooping, hanging, or weeping.
枯れる = かれる = “to wither,” or, alternatively, to die, dry up, or run out.
開く = ひらく = “to open up (flower bud, umbrella),” or to widen
善か悪かなんて = Apparently, IZNA sang completely different lyrics for this line, which is extremely frustrating. To me, they make even less sense, so while I’ve changed the romaji reading to match what is sung (as I usually try to do), I’ve left my original translation (of the lyrics in the booklet).
