Song: Secret treasure
Artist: ゆよゆっぺ ft. F9 (きよの)
———> Yuyoyuppe ft. F9 (Kiyono)
Release: Collapse of the sky
Key: Original Lyrics; Romaji; Translation
NOTES: “飛空” is noted as たからもの (treasure), but the kanji are a weird combination that becomes “airship.” For example, 飛空艇 is “airship” and 飛空士 is “pilot,” so while 飛空 is not “airship” according to my dictionary, I’ve translated it as such, because then everything makes more sense (to me, haha).
“Esoteric” is an adjective for something that only a small, select group can know about or do. So, an “esoteric duty” is something only a small circle of people are given charge of. In other words, it’s a secret.
“…しかなくて” – “Only…” or “Nothing else but…”. So only within the treasure (airship) can the singer do her secret duty.
“宙” is sang as “空”, but ちゅう means “space, air, midair.”
“時空” is sang as just “時”, but じくう means “space-time.”
An oratorio (オラトリオ) is a large musical composition for orchestra, choir, and soloists. It’s different from an opera, though, because an opera is more of a theatre piece; oratorios are specifically concert pieces.
As noted in the lyrics, “嘲笑した” is sung as “ほほえんだ.” No matter how you read it, 嘲笑した is “to ridicule, to sneer,” versus 微笑む(ほほえむ), which is “to smile.”
飛空(たからもの)にすがる = すがる in this sense means “to cling to; to rely on,” so though I’ve used “to cling to,” it’s more out a sense of “I need to hold on tight,” I feel.
野薔薇 is noted as “私” but のばら is “wild rose.”
がく is onomatopoeia for “trembling” or “collapsing.”

Were you to cut through the scenery
You could reach the suspended city through the night
Only within the treasure that built words and meaning
Do I pursue the distant space
As my esoteric duty
