NSY ft. ランコ – A Coke In Misaki [LYRICS]

back from the dead

Slightly edited from the original version from when the website was down.

Title: A Coke In Misaki
Arrange: NSY
Lyrics: shuriken
Vocal:
———> Ranko
Circle: サリー
———> Sally
Album: アイス
———> Ice
Key: Original Lyrics; Romaji; Translation

NOTES: 小船 – こぶね – a small craft but not necessarily a boat

This implies that there were children prior who left on journeys

Another way I interpeted this line is “nostalgia triggered by scent”

踊り酔いましょう – 酔い(よい) – “to get drunk; to become intoxicated,”
“to feel sick (e.g. in a vehicle); to become nauseated,”
or even “to be elated; to be exalted; to be spellbound; to be in raptures.”
Always impressed with how shuriken is able to be so vivid and yet so vague.
Originally wanted to translate as “shall we dance until we die?,” but this isn’t Hocus Pocus.
That said, I think any of the three meanings would be a valid interpretation,
which was probably the intent, considering it is one of the few repeated lines in the song.
As the song continues, the line continues to gain new meaning…

This could mean “I’ll take you to the party” or “I’ll lead us in this dance.”

A metaphor for the rain starting to come down even harder than before.

Assemble on the open sea”

惜別 – せきべつ – “regret or reluctance to part; parting regrets”

Carmilla is a novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, about a young woman who is a preyed upon by a female vampire.
It was one of the earliest works of vampire fiction, and would become a major influence for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, among other works.
While I have tried reading Carmilla in the (long) past, I have not yet finished it,
so I personally cannot claim to know of any specific references within the rest of the lyrics as of this point.
I will say, however, that plays on the name “Carmilla” are often used today as names for female vampires in other media, as allusions to this work.

Basically, this is a word for a “school” or “sect” of something.
For example, the aforementioned “Carmilla” was one of the early vampire works, and helped birth Gothic horror.
But its meaning isn’t limited to “genres;” it’s just a general word for a group or part of something (or a “school”).

咲き乱れる – さきみだれる – “to bloom in profusion.” For reference, “profusion” means “abundance.”

To be honest, these lines are extremely vague,
but taken with the repeated lines of the chorus directly before these,
it feels like the lyrics are trying to paint imagery of a wild killing spree.
That’s just my interpretation, though.

嘲け謀る – 嘲る – “to scoff; to laugh at; to make fun of; to ridicule; to jeer at” and
謀る – “to work out a plan of deception; to scheme; to take in; to dupe; to deceive”

nami makase fui ni
kobune kara kau kaze

Leave it to sudden gusts
For the wind will support our craft

ashioto ha keshite
tsugi no kora ni tabi wo

The footprints disappear
As the children leave on their journey

nureta me wo ayasu
kodachi ga se wo muite

Wiping away at moistened eyes
A grove of trees just behind

nokoriga ni kioku
rashikunai bojou made

Reminiscences upon a lingering scent
Are merely an unusual yearning

hikikae ni sore wo nakushita no sa

It’d be wise to rid yourself of those feelings…

saa minna odoriyoimashou
nakimushi no kimi wo tsurete
uruwa ya reimei no kiro mukaebito he

Alright, everyone! Shall we dance in madness?
You’re a crybaby, but I’ll lead you along
There’ll be a lovely guide at dawn to show us the way back

Marvelous!

saa minna odoriyoimashou
kushakusha to kao yugamete
maaberasu isso namida ame
hitoyo akereba hare

Alright, everyone! Shall we dance in madness?
Disheveled bodies and distorted faces
Marvelous! Soon a light rain will fall
But if the night ends it’ll be clear again

nibiiro maru de
moeru mizu no utage

Everything’s become dark grey
A banquet drenched

miteitai mirai dake wo
miteirenai

The only future I want to see
Can no longer be seen

anjita ano hi no bokura wo
modokashiku omoukeredo
uta wa orihodoku kagi yo oki he tsudoe

We who had planned that day
Felt frustrated and impatient
But the song was a key for this cage
And a key to reaching the open sea

saa minna odoriyoimashou
korai yori kawari ha senu
yuubi nare sekibetsu no shi yo
kurai moya wo harae

Alright, everyone! Shall we dance in madness?
From ancient times, change has been forbidden
With grace practiced in parting poetry
Purify this dark fog

motomu hodo hanare afureru dake

The only thing I want is to drift away,
Only to spread out and overflow

Carmilla!

tashika ni kono mi no fukou wo
norou koto mo atta kedo
kamira samishii sekai mo
asu he tsunage

Surely this misfortune
Was a curse put upon us, but
Carmilla, this lonely world
Is still connected to the future!

saa minna odoriyoimashou
nakimushi no kimi wo tsurete
yuuha wa sakimidareru aka
yurasu bijuu no sode

Alright, everyone! Shall we dance in madness?
You’re a crybaby, but I’ll lead you along
A blossoming sect of red
A beautiful beast’s swinging sleeves

azaketabakaru naka de hakanaku

Attempts at ridicule are, at their core, ephemeral
