NOTES: ロマネスク = Romanesque architecture refers to medieval European architecture that took inspiration from earlier Roman architecture, and is characterized by the semi-circular arches first systematically used by the Ancient Romans. I have translated “Romanesque” here as a “beautiful archway,” in reference to the door (扉) mentioned in the previous stanzas.
